How many employees does Netflix have? Full-time headcount by year and region

Netflix runs a $45 billion business with about 16,000 full-time employees, which is why its revenue per employee is close to $3 million. The headline number leaves out the production crews who make its shows, and the filing says so.

Netflix had approximately 16,000 full-time employees as of December 31, 2025, according to its Form 10-K filed January 23, 2026. About 10,900 (68%) were in the United States and Canada, 2,500 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 1,900 in Asia-Pacific and 700 in Latin America. The count excludes production staff, some part-time or temporary, whose numbers vary through the year. It was about 14,000 a year earlier.

  • About 16,000 full-time employees at December 31, 2025, up about 2,000 (14%) in a year.
  • 68% work in the US and Canada; the share outside that region has edged up from 30% in 2022 to 32%.
  • Production crews, some part-time or temporary, are outside the 16,000.
  • Revenue per full-time employee was about $2.8 million in 2025 (our calculation).

What the number includes

The 2025 10-K says: "As of December 31, 2025, we had approximately 16,000 full-time employees." It then adds: "We also have a number of employees engaged in content production, some of whom are part-time or temporary, and whose numbers fluctuate throughout the year and may be covered by collective bargaining agreements."

So the figure:

  • Counts full-time employees only. Part-time and temporary staff aren't in it.
  • Leaves out production employees, whom Netflix describes separately and doesn't count. Most of the people working on a Netflix series at any moment won't be in the 16,000.
  • Is a year-end snapshot at December 31.

The filing also describes how Netflix pays: it aims "to pay our employees at their personal top of market", and employees can generally choose their mix of cash and stock options.

What changed and why

  • 2018 to 2022: fast growth, from about 7,100 to about 12,800 full-time employees, while Netflix expanded into more countries (59 in 2020, 65 in 2022).
  • 2023: a pause. Net growth was about 200. Netflix stopped its DVD-by-mail service on September 29, 2023, which it says had an immaterial impact on operations; the 2018 10-K shows that business had about 200 of its 7,100 full-time employees. The filings don't give another reason for the slowdown, and none reports a workforce reduction.
  • 2024 and 2025: growth resumed, adding about 3,000 people in two years. The 2025 10-K credits revenue growth to more members, price increases and higher advertising revenue.
  • The Warner Bros. deal that didn't happen. In December 2025 Netflix agreed to buy Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studios businesses, including HBO Max, which would have changed the headcount entirely. WBD terminated the agreement on February 27, 2026 to accept a proposal from Paramount Skydance, which paid Netflix a $2.8 billion termination fee (Netflix 8-K, February 27, 2026). The 16,000 figure is still the whole company.

Revenue per employee

Netflix's 2025 revenue was $45,183 million. Divided by about 16,000 full-time employees, that's about $2.82 million per employee (our calculation), up from about $2.79 million in 2024 ($39,001 million / 14,000) and about $2.59 million in 2023 ($33,723 million / 13,000).

Read the regional figures with care. Netflix reports streaming revenue by member region, and its employees don't only work on their own region's members: content and technology made in one place is sold everywhere. The table shows where the people are relative to the revenue, not how productive each office is.

Selling to a company of Netflix's size

General guidance, not a description of Netflix's internal process.

A company with 16,000 full-time staff and $45 billion of revenue spends most of its money on content, and the rest is concentrated in a few large functions.

  • Content and production buying is its own world. Productions are staffed and supplied project by project, often through production companies, so vendors to a show sell to that production, not to corporate procurement.
  • Engineering and product teams are small for the revenue and buy carefully. Expect a technical evaluation run by the team that would use your product.
  • Two thirds of staff sit in one region. For corporate tools, the US and Canada team is usually where the decision and the budget sit, with regional offices adopting later.
  • New businesses mean new buyers. The 10-K's emphasis on advertising revenue points to growing teams in ad sales, ad technology and measurement.

Questions people ask

How many employees does Netflix have in the US?

Netflix reports the US and Canada together: about 10,900 full-time employees as of December 31, 2025, or 68% of its approximately 16,000, according to its 2025 10-K. It doesn't publish a US-only figure. The region's count has grown from about 9,000 at the end of 2022 and 2023 and 9,600 at the end of 2024.

Does Netflix's employee count include production crews?

No. The 10-K's figure of about 16,000 counts full-time employees. It describes separately the employees engaged in content production, some part-time or temporary, whose numbers fluctuate through the year and who may be covered by collective bargaining agreements. Netflix doesn't publish how many there are, so the people working on its shows aren't in the headline number.

How much revenue does Netflix make per employee?

About $2.8 million in 2025, by our calculation: revenue of $45.2 billion divided by about 16,000 full-time employees at December 31, 2025. That's up from about $2.6 million in 2023. The figure is high because production staff and outside production companies, which do much of the work behind Netflix's content, aren't in the employee count.

Did the Warner Bros. deal change Netflix's employee count?

No. Netflix agreed in December 2025 to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studios businesses, but WBD terminated the agreement on February 27, 2026 to accept a proposal from Paramount Skydance, and Netflix received a $2.8 billion termination fee, according to Netflix's 8-K. Netflix's headcount of about 16,000 full-time employees covers only its own business.

How many Netflix employees work outside the US and Canada?

About 5,100 as of December 31, 2025, by adding the 10-K's regional figures: 2,500 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 1,900 in Asia-Pacific and 700 in Latin America. That's about 32% of the full-time workforce, up from about 30% at the end of 2022. Netflix had employees in 65 countries in 2022, the last year it reported a country count.
