This page is for sellers, analysts and anyone who needs a Palantir headcount they can cite: the latest number, what it counts and how it has moved. Palantir is far smaller than its market profile suggests, and profile-based sites often count contractors and former staff. Every number here comes from Palantir's annual report on Form 10-K or its quarterly 10-Q, filed with the SEC.

Palantir headcount in 2026

Palantir's 10-Qs repeat the count in a risk factor about managing growth ("our employee base of ... full-time employees").

So headcount has been flat in 2026: 28 fewer at June 30 than at the start of the year. The third-quarter 10-Q, due in early November, will give the September figure.

What the number includes

  • Full-time employees only. The 10-K says "As of December 31, 2025, we had 4,429 full-time employees, 28% of whom are employed outside of the United States."
  • Not part-time staff or contractors. It adds: "We also engage part-time employees, independent contractors, and third-party personnel to supplement our workforce." Those people are outside the count, and the filing doesn't say how many there are.
  • About 72% in the US. Palantir doesn't give a US number, but with 28% outside the US the rest, roughly 3,190 people by our arithmetic, are US-based. That's close to the 74% of 2025 revenue that came from US customers.
  • No split by segment or function. Palantir reports two segments, Government and Commercial, but allocates costs between them "based upon headcount" without publishing the headcount itself.
  • A point-in-time count, not an average.

What changed and why

2020 to 2022: hiring after the listing

Palantir's shares began trading on September 30, 2020 through a direct listing, and it hired quickly: up 481 in 2021 and 918 in 2022, when headcount passed 3,800.

2023: a small fall

Headcount fell 103 in 2023, the only annual fall in the filings, and the share of staff outside the US fell from 37% to 35%. The 10-K doesn't explain the change, and a search of Palantir's 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings finds no announced reduction in force.

2024 to 2026: revenue far ahead of headcount

Revenue grew 29% in 2024 and 56% in 2025, to $4.5 billion, while headcount grew 5.4% and 12.5%. The share of employees outside the US kept falling, to 28%. In the first half of 2026 the count stayed between 4,395 and 4,429.

Revenue per employee

Palantir's 2025 revenue was $4,475.4 million. Divided by the year-end headcount, that's $4,475.4 million ÷ 4,429 = about $1.01 million per employee (our calculation).

YearRevenueFull-time employeesRevenue per employee (our calculation)
2025$4,475.4 million4,429about $1,010,000
2024$2,865.5 million3,936about $728,000
2023$2,225.0 million3,735about $596,000
2022$1,905.9 million3,838about $497,000
2021$1,541.9 million2,920about $528,000
2020$1,092.7 million2,439about $448,000

The 10-K says government customers made up 54% of 2025 revenue and commercial customers 46%, and that 74% came from the US. The ratio counts only full-time employees, so it's higher than it would be if contractors were included. For companies measured the same way, see the highest revenue per employee list.

Selling to a company this size

General guidance on how software companies of 4,400 people buy, not a description of Palantir's internal processes.

  • Small headcount, big budget. A company with over $1 million of revenue per employee can afford tools that save its people time. Lead with hours saved per engineer or per deployment.
  • Expect security first. A company that earns most of its revenue from government customers holds its own vendors to strict security and data-handling standards. Have your documentation ready before the first call.
  • Engineering builds by default. Software companies compare your product with building it themselves. Show the cost of the in-house option.
  • Few teams, so be precise. With a few thousand people, the team that owns your problem is small. Find it before you reach out: our guide to finding decision makers shows how.
  • Land, then expand. Win one team and use the result to reach the next: the land and expand motion.

Questions people ask

How many employees does Palantir have in 2026?

4,401 full-time employees on June 30, 2026, according to Palantir's 10-Q for the second quarter, filed with the SEC on August 4, 2026. That's 28 fewer than the 4,429 at December 31, 2025 in its latest 10-K, and 6 more than the 4,395 at March 31, 2026. Part-time staff, contractors and third-party personnel aren't included.

How many Palantir employees are in the US?

About 72% of its 4,429 full-time employees at December 31, 2025, roughly 3,190 people by our arithmetic. Palantir's 2025 10-K says 28% were employed outside the United States, but it doesn't state a US number. The share outside the US has fallen from 37% at the end of 2022, when 1,436 of 3,838 full-time employees worked abroad.

Does Palantir's employee count include contractors?

No. Palantir's 10-K counts full-time employees only and says it also engages part-time employees, independent contractors and third-party personnel to supplement its workforce. Those people aren't in the 4,429 at December 31, 2025, and the filing doesn't say how many there are, so totals that include them are outside estimates.

Did Palantir have layoffs?

A search of Palantir's 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K filings on SEC EDGAR finds no announced reduction in force. Its full-time headcount fell once, by 103, from 3,838 at the end of 2022 to 3,735 at the end of 2023, and the 10-K doesn't explain why. It also dipped slightly in early 2026, to 4,395 at March 31, before reaching 4,401 at June 30.

What is Palantir's revenue per employee?

About $1.01 million in 2025, by our calculation: revenue of $4,475.4 million divided by 4,429 full-time employees at December 31, 2025, both from the 2025 10-K. The same calculation gives about $728,000 for 2024 and about $448,000 for 2020. It counts full-time employees only, so it would be lower if contractors were included.
