The best email finder for your volume, workflow and bounce tolerance

Most email finders cost a few cents per address, so price is rarely what separates them. What matters is what they charge you for, how they handle catch-all domains, and what happens when an email they called valid bounces.

Comparison9 min readUpdated

Short answer

The best email finder depends on how you work. Hunter suits teams finding emails from company domains, with unlimited users and 2,000 credits for $49 a month. Prospeo and Skrapp cost least per email at entry level. Anymail Finder charges only for verified emails and credits back bounces. Snov.io adds cold email sequences. Findymail guarantees under 5% bounces. Apollo suits teams that also want a database and dialer. Test any of them on contacts you know first.

  • At entry level, most finders charge about 2 to 7 cents per email found; the gap is small next to the cost of a damaged sending domain.
  • Check what counts as a charge: most charge only for emails found, but Snov.io also charges for 'unknown' results.
  • Verification is priced differently: 0.5 credits at Hunter, 0.2 at Anymail Finder, 1 at Snov.io for a valid or invalid result.
  • Guarantees differ: Findymail refunds credits above 5% bounces, Anymail Finder credits back any verified email that bounces.
  • US law treats B2B cold email the same as any commercial email: CAN-SPAM has no B2B exception.

This page is for founders, SDRs and agency owners choosing a tool to find work email addresses for prospecting. It assumes you already know which companies and roles you want to reach and need their verified emails at a sensible cost. If you'd rather do it by hand first, our guide on how to find a business email address covers the manual methods.

How we compared

Blackpearl Group wrote this page. We don't sell a standalone email finder, so none of the tools below is ours. The rules we followed:

  • Selection. Tools whose main job is finding and verifying business emails, plus Apollo and RocketReach as the two databases most often listed alongside them in the top search results for "best email finder" on 26 October 2026. Each of those top results was published by a vendor ranking its own product first.
  • Facts. Every price, credit rule and guarantee comes from the vendor's own pricing page or help center, read on 26 October 2026. Prices are list prices before tax. Accuracy figures quoted are the vendors' own claims, which we couldn't verify.
  • No hands-on scores. We haven't run a controlled benchmark, so there are no ratings. The test at the end is how to measure find rate and bounce rate on your own contacts.

The best email finders at a glance

Published plans from each vendor's pricing page on 26 October 2026. Annual figures are the monthly equivalent when billed annually.

What each tool charges you for

The headline number of credits tells you less than the rules behind it. Three questions matter: are you charged when nothing is found, are "unknown" results charged, and what does verifying an email you already have cost?

ToolEmail foundNothing foundUnknown or catch-all resultVerifying an email you haveUnused credits

Repeat lookups are often free: Hunter counts the same search once per billing period, Anymail Finder doesn't charge for re-running a search within 30 days, and Snov.io doesn't charge again for prospects you've already saved.

Guarantees and accuracy claims

ToolWhat the vendor promises (own pages, 26 Oct 2026)
Findymail"Guaranteed <5% bounce rate"; if your bounce rate exceeds 5%, credits are refunded
Anymail Finder97%+ delivery guarantee: a verified email that bounces is credited back. It also states 86.4% verified coverage at 98.9% accuracy in a 14-tool benchmark it ran itself
Skrapp"Only pay for deliverable emails" under a Fair Credit Policy
RocketReachStates 98% accuracy; lookups with no verified result are refunded
Hunter, Snov.io, Prospeo, Voila NorbertNo charge when no email is found

Treat every accuracy figure as a claim about the vendor's own sample. A vendor-run benchmark, however carefully done, isn't independent, and none of these figures describes your market. The test below does.

Worked example: 1,200 emails a month for a small agency

Illustrative example. The agency, volumes and find rate are invented. Prices are list prices published on 26 October 2026, before tax or discounts.

The team: Kestrel Works (kestrel.example) is a founder-led agency that runs outbound for mid-sized manufacturers. For its own pipeline it targets 400 manufacturers a month, three contacts at each: the plant manager, the operations director and the purchasing manager. Assume three in four lookups return a verified email, so 1,600 searches yield 1,200 emails. Before each campaign the agency also re-verifies 1,000 older contacts from its CRM.

Credits needed each month:

  • Hunter: 1,200 found × 1 + 1,000 verifications × 0.5 = 1,200 + 500 = 1,700 credits
  • Anymail Finder: 1,200 × 1 + 1,000 × 0.2 = 1,200 + 200 = 1,400 credits
  • Snov.io: 1,200 found + up to 1,000 verifications (unknown results free) = up to 2,200 credits
  • Prospeo, Skrapp, Voila Norbert: 1,200 finds (verify the old list in a separate tool or check each vendor's verification rate)
OptionFits?Billed monthlyBilled annually (per month)Cost per email found (monthly)

Snov.io Pro SYes: up to 2,200 of 5,000 (Starter's 1,000 falls short)$99$74.25$0.083

Findymail IndividualLimits not published$99About $0.083 if it fits
Apollo Basic, 1 seatFinding: 1,200 of 2,500 credits$65$49$0.054

What this shows:

  • The price spread is small. The cheapest and dearest options here differ by $60 a month, about 5 cents an email. A sending domain damaged by bounces costs far more than that in lost replies, so weight deliverability above price.
  • Verification changes the ranking. Re-verifying 1,000 contacts costs 200 Anymail Finder credits, 500 at Hunter and up to 1,000 at Snov.io. If you verify more than you find, compare on verification price first.
  • Unknown results add up. If 15% of Snov.io finds come back "unknown", that's 180 credits a month spent on emails that may not deliver. Decide in advance whether you'll send to them.
  • Bounces cost twice. At a 6% hard-bounce rate, 1,200 sends produce 72 bounces; at 2%, 24. The extra 48 cost little in credits but count against your sender reputation.

Run a two-week test on contacts you know

  1. Build a truth set. Pick 50 contacts whose work email you know is right because they replied in the last six months. Include small companies and catch-all domains, which separate good finders from weak ones.
  2. Set pass marks first. For example: at least 70% found, under 3% hard bounces on a real send, and no more than 10% "unknown" results.
  3. Use free tiers. Most give 50 to 100 credits, enough for 50 contacts. Findymail's 10 free credits aren't, so plan a paid month if it's on your list.
  4. Search by name and company only. Don't paste the known email into the finder; you're testing whether it can find it.
  5. Score every result. +1 for the correct current address, 0 for an "unknown" or catch-all result, -1 for a wrong address. GTM-Bench, Blackpearl Group's June 2026 benchmark of AI prospecting systems, scores records the same way so that volume can't hide wrong answers.
  6. Send a real, compliant email to the passes from a warmed-up mailbox, and count hard bounces within 48 hours.
  7. Work out cost per delivered email. Monthly price ÷ (emails a month × share delivered). For Hunter at Kestrel's volume with 97% delivered: $49 ÷ (1,200 × 0.97) = $49 ÷ 1,164 = $0.042.

Decision and why:

The rules that apply to every finder

A tool that finds an email doesn't make it lawful to send to it. Two primary sources set the baseline:

  • United States. The FTC's CAN-SPAM guidance says the law "makes no exception for business-to-business email". Each message must identify the sender accurately, avoid misleading subject lines, include a valid postal address and offer a clear way to opt out, and you must honor opt-outs within 10 business days. Each email in violation can draw penalties of up to $53,088. You stay responsible for email others send on your behalf.
  • United Kingdom. The ICO says a named business contact's details are personal data even when the person is acting in a business capacity, so your use of them must comply with UK GDPR. Sole traders and some partnerships count as individual subscribers, so you can only email them marketing with their consent (or a soft opt-in).

In practice: email work addresses only, keep messages relevant to the person's role, and suppress anyone who opts out across every tool you use. Some finders return personal addresses; RocketReach, for one, lets you filter them out in your settings.

Next step: if you need phone numbers and a full contact database rather than emails alone, compare the options in RocketReach alternatives.

Questions people ask

What is the best free email finder?

On 26 October 2026, Prospeo had the largest permanent free allowance among the tools we checked: 100 credits a month, one per verified email. Apollo gave 75 credits per seat a month, Hunter 50 a month, Snov.io 50 a month on its renewing trial plan, and Skrapp and Voila Norbert 50 credits. Free tiers are best for testing a tool on contacts you know before you pay.

Which email finder is the most accurate?

No independent benchmark we could verify ranks them. Vendors publish their own figures: RocketReach states 98% accuracy, Anymail Finder reports 98.9% accuracy in a benchmark it ran itself, and Findymail guarantees a bounce rate under 5%. The reliable answer is your own test: run 50 contacts whose emails you already know through two or three tools, then count correct, unknown and wrong results.

How much does an email finder cost?

Entry plans on 26 October 2026 ran from $29 to $99 a month. Anymail Finder started at $29 for 400 credits, Skrapp Professional was $39 for 2,000, Snov.io Starter $39 for 1,000, and Hunter and Prospeo Starter $49 for 2,000 each. Most charge one credit per email found, so entry-level cost works out to about 2 to 7 cents an email, less on annual billing.

Is Hunter.io the best email finder?

Hunter is a strong choice for finding emails from company domains, especially for teams, because every plan includes unlimited team members and its Bulk Domain Search finds up to 10 emails per credit. It doesn't offer phone numbers, and its credits reset monthly. If you prospect mainly from LinkedIn, mostly verify existing lists, or need mobiles, Skrapp, Anymail Finder or Prospeo may suit you better.

Is it legal to use an email finder for cold email?

Finding a business email is legal in the US, but sending to it must follow CAN-SPAM, which the FTC says applies to business-to-business email: accurate sender details, honest subject lines, a postal address and an opt-out honored within 10 business days. In the UK, the ICO treats a named business contact's details as personal data under UK GDPR. Other countries have their own rules, so check where your recipients are.
