Short answer
Accenture had approximately 814,000 employees on August 31, 2026, according to its Form 10-K for fiscal 2026, filed October 16, 2026. That is 35,000 (4.5%) more than a year earlier and the highest count it has reported, after a dip to 779,000 in August 2025 during a business optimization program. Most of its people work in India, the Philippines and the US; Accenture doesn't publish a count by country.
- Latest figure: about 814,000 employees on August 31, 2026, from Accenture's fiscal 2026 10-K, its highest reported count.
- Headcount fell from 801,000 (February 2025) to 779,000 (August 2025) while Accenture exited people it couldn't reskill, then grew 35,000 in fiscal 2026.
- The biggest jumps came in fiscal 2021 (+118,000) and fiscal 2022 (+97,000).
- Nearly 110,000 of its people are AI and data practitioners, up from about 57,000 at the end of fiscal 2024.
- Revenue per employee was about $91,100 in fiscal 2026 (our calculation), a fraction of a software company's.

This page is for sellers, analysts and job seekers who need an Accenture headcount they can cite: the latest number, what it covers and how it has moved. Workforce-data sites estimate Accenture's size from public profiles and come out above or below the company's own figure depending on the month. Every number here comes from Accenture's annual report on Form 10-K or its quarterly reports on Form 10-Q. Accenture plc is incorporated in Ireland but files with the SEC like a US company. Its fiscal year ends on August 31, so fiscal 2026 ran from September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026.

Each filing gives the count as "approximately", rounded to the nearest thousand (the 2021 and 2022 filings also say "more than" in places). The 2019 change uses the 459,000 at August 31, 2018 that the 2019 10-K reports. The changes are our arithmetic.
Accenture headcount by quarter
Accenture also states its workforce in every 10-Q, in the same sentence each time: "Our workforce, the majority of which serves our clients, was approximately..." The three 10-Qs for fiscal 2026 and the 10-Ks give eight quarter-ends:
| Quarter end | Employees | Source |
|---|---|---|
| November 30, 2024 | 799,000 | 10-Q for November 30, 2025 (prior-year figure) |
| February 28, 2025 | 801,000 | 10-Q for February 28, 2026 (prior-year figure) |
| May 31, 2025 | 791,000 | 10-Q for May 31, 2026 (prior-year figure) |
| August 31, 2025 | 779,000 | 2025 10-K |
| November 30, 2025 | 784,000 | 10-Q filed December 18, 2025 |
| February 28, 2026 | 786,000 | 10-Q filed March 19, 2026 |
| May 31, 2026 | 799,000 | 10-Q filed June 18, 2026 |
| August 31, 2026 | 814,000 | 2026 10-K |
The dip of 22,000 between February and August 2025 is the business optimization program described below. The next figure, for November 30, 2026, will be in the 10-Q filed in December 2026.
What the number includes
- Everyone Accenture employs, worldwide. The 10-K says: "As of August 31, 2026, we had approximately 814,000 employees worldwide." Most are billable: the workforce is "the majority of which serves our clients," and the rest work in corporate functions.
- No subcontractors. The 10-K says Accenture may "increase our reliance on subcontractors to fill certain labor needs." They aren't employees, and the filing gives no count of them.
- No full-time or part-time split. The filings don't say how part-time staff are counted.
- No country split. The 10-K says Accenture has "offices and operations in 52 countries and the majority of our people are in India, the Philippines and the U.S." It publishes no count for any country, so any India or US figure you see elsewhere is someone else's estimate.
- A point-in-time count on the last day of the quarter, not an average.
What changed and why
Fiscal 2021 and 2022: the hiring surge
Headcount grew by 215,000 in two years. The 2021 10-K says "we increased our workforce by approximately 118,000 people," and the 2022 10-K "by approximately 100,000 people." Revenues rose from $44.3 billion in fiscal 2020 to $61.6 billion in fiscal 2022.
Fiscal 2023 and 2024: 19,000 planned departures
In its 10-Q for the quarter to February 28, 2023, Accenture said it had "initiated actions to streamline our operations and transform our non-billable corporate functions to reduce costs," which over 18 months were "expected to result in the departure of approximately 19,000 people (or 2.5% of our current workforce)," over half of them in non-billable corporate functions. It recorded $1,063 million of business optimization costs in fiscal 2023 and $438 million in fiscal 2024, mainly severance. Hiring continued: the total dipped from 738,000 (February 2023) to 732,000 (May 2023), then reached 774,000 by August 2024.
Fiscal 2025 and 2026: the talent rotation
The 2025 10-K describes "a refreshed three-pronged talent strategy": "investing in upskilling people," "exiting people in a compressed timeline where reskilling is not a viable path for the skills we need," and "identifying areas to drive even more operating efficiencies in our business, including through AI." The program cost $615 million in fiscal 2025, including $344 million of severance "associated with headcount reductions" and $271 million of impairments on two divested acquisitions, and $308 million in fiscal 2026, when it was completed. The filings don't give a number of people exited.
Headcount then grew again, to a record 814,000. By the end of fiscal 2026 Accenture had "nearly 110,000 skilled AI and data practitioners," against a goal of 80,000. Voluntary attrition was 13% for the year (14% in fiscal 2025) and utilization 93%. The risk factors warn that some tasks "have been and will continue to be replaced by automation, including AI-enabled solutions," which could cut demand for its services.
Revenue per employee
Fiscal 2026 revenues were $74,183 million. Divided by the year-end headcount, that's $74,183 million ÷ 814,000 = about $91,100 per employee (our calculation). On the average of the opening and closing counts (796,500), it's about $93,100.
| Fiscal year | Revenues | Year-end employees | Revenue per employee (our calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | $74.2 billion | 814,000 | about $91,100 |
| 2025 | $69.7 billion | 779,000 | about $89,400 |
| 2024 | $64.9 billion | 774,000 | about $83,800 |
| 2023 | $64.1 billion | 733,000 | about $87,500 |
Accenture sells its people's time and the services they run, so the figure sits far below a software company's: Oracle's was about $477,700 in its latest fiscal year, and IBM's headcount page shows another mixed hardware, software and services model.
Revenue splits evenly by type of work (consulting $36.9 billion, managed services $37.3 billion) and by geographic market: Americas $36.5 billion (49%), EMEA $27.0 billion (36%) and Asia Pacific $10.7 billion (14%). The filings give no headcount by market or type of work, so revenue per employee can't be worked out for either.
Selling to a company this size
General guidance on how organizations of 800,000 people buy, not a description of Accenture's internal processes.
- Decide which Accenture you're selling to. For tools its own people use (learning, HR, security, collaboration), the buyer is a corporate function, and scale is the pitch: Accenture spent about $1.0 billion on learning in fiscal 2026 and delivered about 46 million training hours. For a product its clients use, you're looking for a delivery or alliance partner, which is a different team and a different conversation.
- Follow the structure in the 10-K. Three geographic markets (Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific) own client relationships and revenue, and five industry groups sit within them. A pitch tied to one market or industry group has a clear owner.
- Price against the model. A firm earning about $91,000 a head can't pay per-seat software prices across 814,000 people. Pilot with a practice or a delivery center and price for the group that gets the value.
- Plan for review time. Global security, data protection and procurement reviews come before a first order, and works councils can apply in some countries.
- Name the people. Our guides to finding decision makers and selling to the C-suite cover who signs and who can block.

How to check Accenture's headcount yourself
- Open Accenture's filings on SEC EDGAR and pick the latest 10-K (filed in October) or 10-Q (filed in December, March and June).
- Search the document for "Our workforce". The sentence gives the count, the date and the prior-period comparison.
- In the 10-K, read the "Our people" section in Item 1 for where people work and the AI and data practitioner count.
- Before comparing with another company, check the basis: Accenture's figure is year-end or quarter-end employees, without subcontractors.
Next step: compare Accenture with the other firms on our list of the largest consulting firms.

Questions people ask
How many employees does Accenture have in India?
Accenture doesn't say. Its fiscal 2026 10-K reports approximately 814,000 people worldwide at August 31, 2026, and says the majority of them are in India, the Philippines and the US, with offices and operations in 52 countries. It publishes no count for any single country, so any India figure you see elsewhere is an estimate built from other data, not a company number.
Did Accenture lay off employees in 2025?
Accenture's filings describe a six-month business optimization program started in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2025, which included exiting people "in a compressed timeline where reskilling is not a viable path." It cost $615 million in fiscal 2025, including $344 million of severance, and $308 million in fiscal 2026. Headcount fell from 801,000 in February 2025 to 779,000 in August 2025, then rose to 814,000.
Is Accenture's headcount at a record high?
Yes. The approximately 814,000 employees at August 31, 2026 is the highest count Accenture has reported, according to its fiscal 2026 10-K. The previous high was approximately 801,000 at February 28, 2025, before the 2025 business optimization program brought the total down to 779,000 by August 31, 2025. Headcount is up 77% from about 459,000 in August 2018.
What is Accenture's revenue per employee?
About $91,100 in fiscal 2026, by our calculation: revenues of $74,183 million divided by approximately 814,000 employees at August 31, 2026, both from the 10-K. On the average of the opening and closing headcounts it's about $93,100. That is low next to software companies because Accenture's revenue comes from consulting and managed services delivered by its own people.
How often does Accenture report its number of employees?
Every quarter. The fiscal year-end figure, as of August 31, is in the 10-K filed in October, and each 10-Q (filed in December, March and June) states the workforce at the end of that quarter alongside earlier figures. Search the filing for "Our workforce, the majority of which serves our clients" to find it.
