Short answer
By revenue in their latest annual figures, the biggest consulting companies are Deloitte ($74.5 billion, year to May 2026), Accenture ($74.2 billion, year to August 2026), PwC ($60.2 billion, year to June 2026), EY ($57.0 billion, year to June 2026) and KPMG ($39.8 billion, year to September 2025). The Big Four totals include audit and tax; counting consulting and advisory alone, Accenture is far ahead, followed by PwC Advisory ($25.8 billion).
- Accenture's $74.2 billion is nearly three times PwC's advisory business ($25.8 billion), the largest consulting arm inside the Big Four that publishes a figure.
- Of the strategy firms, only BCG publishes a revenue figure: $14.4 billion, with 33,500 employees. McKinsey and Bain don't publish theirs.
- Booz Allen's revenue fell 6.4% to $11.2 billion in its year to March 2026; Huron's rose 11.9%.
- The US had 104,494 management consulting establishments in 2023, and 87,328 of them had fewer than five employees (Census).

This list is for people who sell to consulting firms (software and data vendors, recruiters, training providers, research and expert networks, office and travel services) and for those who want to partner with them or hire one. It ranks the 16 biggest consulting firms that publish their revenue, shows the consulting-only figures inside the Big Four, counts US consulting firms from Census data, and explains how firms this size buy.

Revenue as each firm published it for its latest year by 30 October 2026: the Big Four's global revenue announcements and annual review, the 10-K or 20-F for listed firms, Capgemini's 2025 results release, and BCG's own "about" page, which gives annual revenue without a year. Capgemini's euros are converted at the Federal Reserve's 2025 average rate of $1.1306. Huron's figure is revenue before reimbursable expenses. IBM Consulting, Mercer and Marsh Management Consulting are segments or businesses inside larger listed companies; their revenue comes from the parent's 10-K.
What to keep in mind:
- The Big Four are networks, not companies. Each figure adds up separately owned member firms. Deloitte's and KPMG's announcements give growth by business but not dollar figures for consulting; PwC and EY give both.
- Fiscal years run from September 2025 to August 2026. KPMG's year ended 30 September 2025, and its FY2026 figures weren't out on 30 October 2026.
- Two top firms don't publish. McKinsey and Bain are private and don't publish annual revenue, so they aren't ranked. Any figure you see for them is an estimate.
- Not ranked. Tata Consultancy Services, HCLTech, Wipro and CGI sell consulting alongside outsourcing. We didn't rank them here; TCS's investor site blocked automated access when we checked.
Consulting and advisory revenue only
If you want firms by their consulting work alone, take the audit and tax out of the Big Four:
| Firm or unit | Consulting and advisory revenue | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Accenture (whole company) | $74.2B | year to 31 Aug 2026 |
| PwC Advisory | $25.8B (+4.2%) | year to 30 Jun 2026 |
| EY Consulting plus EY-Parthenon (strategy and transactions) | $24.3B ($17.4B plus $6.8B) | year to 30 Jun 2026 |
| Capgemini (whole company) | about $25.4B | 2025 |
| IBM Consulting | $21.1B | 2025 |
| Boston Consulting Group | $14.4B | year not stated |
| Mercer plus Marsh Management Consulting | $9.8B | 2025 |
| Deloitte consulting businesses | not published in dollars (Strategy, Risk and Transactions +4.4%, Technology and Transformation +2.5%) | year to 31 May 2026 |
| KPMG Advisory | not published in dollars (+2.9%) | year to 30 Sep 2025 |
How many consulting firms there are in the US
County Business Patterns, the Census Bureau's count of business locations with paid employees, gives the US footprint for 2023. It counts establishments (offices), not firms, and leaves out consultants who work alone without staff.
| Industry (NAICS) | Establishments | Employees | Annual payroll |
|---|---|---|---|
| Management, scientific and technical consulting services (5416) | 225,945 | 1,736,343 | $184.2 billion |
| Administrative and general management consulting (541611) | 104,494 | 869,457 | $105.9 billion |
The industry is mostly very small offices: 87,328 of the 104,494 general management consulting establishments had fewer than five employees, and only 85 had 1,000 or more. California had the most (17,851), followed by Florida (11,375), Texas (9,705) and New York (6,148). If you sell to consultancies, the 2,663 offices with 50 or more employees are where team-wide software and data budgets sit. Picking the right code for a firm is covered in the NAICS code for consulting.
How we built the list
- What's counted. Total revenue as each firm reports it, for the whole firm or network. For listed companies, the income statement in the 10-K or 20-F. For the Big Four, the aggregate revenue each network announces for its member firms.
- Which firms. Firms whose main business is consulting or professional advisory, plus consulting businesses that a listed parent reports separately. Engineering consultancies are on a separate list of the largest engineering firms.
- Currencies. Only Capgemini reports in a currency other than dollars; we convert at the 2025 average rate.
- What's left out. Private firms that don't publish revenue, including McKinsey and Bain.
What the top results get wrong. The top Google result for this search is Forbes' list of America's best management consulting firms, a survey of clients and consultants that ranks reputation, not size. Mosaic's top-25 list uses ZoomInfo estimates and shows conflicting figures for the same firm (Deloitte at $50 billion and $23.9 billion), with KPMG at $7 billion; KPMG's own announcement for its year to September 2025 says $39.8 billion. Consultancy.uk's often-linked list of the ten largest firms is built on 2016 revenue from an unnamed analyst firm.
What the list is good for if you sell B2B
Consulting firms buy for their delivery teams. The large ones buy software and data their consultants use on client work (analytics, research databases, expert networks, AI tools), plus recruiting, training, travel and offices. Accenture says it had nearly 110,000 AI and data practitioners at the end of its 2026 fiscal year; PwC says its firms invested $3 billion in the year, focused on AI and technology. Those numbers are where tool budgets come from.
They're also a channel. Big consultancies run alliance programs with software vendors and recommend tools to clients. If you sell technology, the alliance or partnership lead and the practice leader for your category can matter more than the firm's own procurement.
| Type of firm | Examples | Who to reach |
|---|---|---|
| Big Four networks | Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG | Member firm practice leaders, alliance leads, national procurement |
| Technology consultancies | Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Infosys, IBM Consulting | Alliance and ecosystem leaders, practice heads by technology |
| Strategy firms | BCG, Marsh Management Consulting | Knowledge and research teams, practice leaders, office heads |
| Government consultancies | Booz Allen, ICF | Capture and business development leads, program managers |
| Specialist advisory | FTI, Huron, Mercer | Segment or practice heads, chief operating officers |
General guidance, not taken from any one firm's policies. Partner-owned firms often let a practice or country firm buy a tool for its own people, then roll it out network-wide once it proves itself. Our guide to consultative selling covers selling to buyers who sell advice themselves; at volume, finding the right practice leader in each firm is the slow part, and Bebop researches each account and finds the people.
Worked example
Illustrative example. Benchly (benchly.example) sells a market data subscription for $1,200 per consultant per year. Its seller sizes two accounts from their 10-Ks:
- FTI Consulting: 6,421 billable professionals. If one in ten uses market data heavily, that's about 640 seats: 640 x $1,200 = $768,000 a year.
- Huron: about 8,610 full-time professionals. One in ten is about 860 seats: 860 x $1,200 = about $1.03 million a year.
Neither firm will buy for everyone at once. A realistic first deal is one practice of 50 consultants: 50 x $1,200 = $60,000 a year, within a practice leader's budget. The seller targets the practice leader and the head of research, runs a one-quarter pilot on live client work, and uses the firm-wide figure to show what a rollout is worth.

What is the biggest consulting company in the world?
By total revenue, Deloitte, with $74.5 billion for its year to 31 May 2026, narrowly ahead of Accenture's $74.2 billion for the year to 31 August 2026. Deloitte's total includes audit, tax and legal work; counting consulting alone, Accenture is the largest by a wide margin. What are the Big Four consulting firms?
Deloitte, PwC, EY and KPMG. They're networks of member firms that provide audit, tax and consulting. Their latest global revenues: Deloitte $74.5 billion (year to May 2026), PwC $60.2 billion (year to June 2026), EY $57.0 billion (year to June 2026) and KPMG $39.8 billion (year to September 2025). PwC's advisory work was $25.8 billion and EY's consulting $17.4 billion.
How much revenue does McKinsey make?
McKinsey is a private partnership and doesn't publish its annual revenue, so any figure you see is an estimate. The same goes for Bain. Boston Consulting Group, the third of the big strategy firms, does publish one: its website gives $14.4 billion of annual revenue and 33,500 employees, although it doesn't say which year the figure covers.
