Short answer
Intuit had approximately 18,600 employees in seven countries as of July 31, 2026, the end of its fiscal 2026, according to its Form 10-K filed September 9, 2026. It also employed an average of about 12,300 seasonal employees from January to April. In May 2026 Intuit said it would reduce its full-time workforce by about 17%, with the work substantially complete by October 31, 2026, so the next count is likely to be lower.
- About 18,600 employees at July 31, 2026, up from about 18,200 a year earlier; seasonal staff averaged 12,300 in tax season.
- Headcount nearly doubled from 9,400 in 2019 to 18,200 in 2023, with the Credit Karma and Mailchimp acquisitions.
- Intuit announced two restructurings: about 1,800 employees (10%) in July 2024 and about 17% of the full-time workforce in May 2026.
- Revenue per employee was about $1.15 million in fiscal 2026 (our calculation).

This page is for sellers sizing Intuit as an account, recruiters and analysts, and anyone who needs a citable headcount. Every figure comes from Intuit Inc.'s annual report on Form 10-K and its current reports on Form 8-K. Intuit's fiscal year ends July 31, so fiscal 2026 ran from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026.
Intuit employees by year
| Fiscal year | As of | Employees | Countries | Seasonal employees (average in tax season) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | July 31, 2026 | about 18,600 | 7 | about 12,300 (January to April) | 10-K filed September 9, 2026 |
| 2025 | July 31, 2025 | about 18,200 | 7 | about 12,300 (January to April) | 10-K filed September 3, 2025 |
| 2024 | July 31, 2024 | about 18,800 | 8 | about 10,800 (January to April) | 10-K filed September 4, 2024 |
| 2023 | July 31, 2023 | about 18,200 | 10 | about 9,400 (January to April) | 10-K filed September 1, 2023 |
| 2022 | July 31, 2022 | about 17,300 | 10 | about 9,100 (January to April) | 10-K filed September 2, 2022 |
| 2021 | July 31, 2021 | about 13,500 | 10 | about 7,700 (January to May) | 10-K filed September 8, 2021 |
| 2020 | July 31, 2020 | about 10,600 | not stated | about 2,700 seasonal and contract (January to July) | 10-K filed August 31, 2020 |
| 2019 | July 31, 2019 | about 9,400 | not stated | about 2,000 seasonal and contract | 10-K filed August 30, 2019 |
The 2019 and 2020 reports named the countries instead of counting them: the United States, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, Israel, Australia and "other locations." The seasonal figures before 2021 included contract workers, so they aren't comparable with later years.
What the number includes
The fiscal 2026 10-K says: "As of July 31, 2026, we had approximately 18,600 employees in seven countries. During fiscal 2026, we employed on average approximately 12,300 seasonal employees from January to April primarily to support our Consumer segment customers during the peak of tax season."
- Year-end employees, not seasonal staff. The headcount is taken on July 31, after tax season, so seasonal workers are reported separately as an average. Adding the two gives a rough sense of the spring workforce, about 30,000 people (our calculation; the two figures are measured differently).
- Subsidiaries are included. The 10-Ks for fiscal 2021 to 2023 said that "of the total number of employees" about 1,300, 1,600 and 1,800 respectively worked for Credit Karma. Later reports drop the breakdown.
- Outsourced support isn't. Intuit says it supplements its own staff "with seasonal employees and additional outsourcing during periods of peak call volumes"; outsourced workers aren't counted.
- Global, but mostly US revenue. International revenue was about 8% of the total in each of the last three years. Intuit doesn't give a US headcount.
What changed and why
- Fiscal 2021 and 2022: acquisitions. Intuit acquired Credit Karma in December 2020 (about 1,300 employees by July 2021, per the 10-K) and Mailchimp on November 1, 2021. Headcount rose from 10,600 to 17,300 in two years.
- July 2024: about 1,800 exits. An 8-K filed July 10, 2024 says "approximately 1,800 employees will exit the Company" and that Intuit would close its Boise and Edmonton sites, while expecting "to hire a nearly equivalent number of employees in fiscal 2025." The chief executive's email filed with it put the cut at 10% of the workforce. Restructuring costs came to $238 million. Year-end headcount went from about 18,800 to about 18,200.
- May 2026: about 17% of the full-time workforce. An 8-K filed May 20, 2026 says Intuit "will reduce its full-time workforce by approximately 17%" to "simplify its organizational structure." The email filed with it lists the reasons: fewer management layers, fewer coordination roles, ending overlap between TurboTax and Credit Karma, winding down the Reno and Woodland Hills offices, and reduced investment in areas including Mailchimp. Intuit recorded $293 million of the expected $315 million in charges in fiscal 2026.
The 8-K gives a percentage, not a number of people. As an illustration only, 17% of the 18,200 employees reported a year earlier would be about 3,100. The 10-K says the actions should be substantially complete by the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2027 (October 31, 2026), and it doesn't say how many affected employees were still in the July 31 count.
Revenue per employee
| Fiscal year | Total net revenue | Employees | Revenue per employee (our calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | $21,448 million | about 18,600 | about $1.15 million |
| 2025 | $18,831 million | about 18,200 | about $1.03 million |
| 2024 | $16,285 million | about 18,800 | about $0.87 million |
For fiscal 2026: $21,448 million divided by 18,600 is about $1.15 million. Counting the 12,300 seasonal workers would cut the ratio sharply, but they work for only part of the year, so we leave them out.
Intuit reports two segments: Global Business Solutions (QuickBooks, Mailchimp and services for small and mid-market businesses and accountants), with $12,864 million of revenue in fiscal 2026, and Consumer (TurboTax, Credit Karma and tax products for professional accountants), with $8,584 million. The 10-K doesn't split employees by segment, but its restructuring table shows that $214 million of the 2026 charges sat in Corporate, against $51 million in Global Business Solutions and $28 million in Consumer.
Selling to a company of Intuit's size
General guidance, not a description of Intuit's internal process.
An 18,600 person software company in the middle of a restructuring buys carefully and centrally.
- Expect consolidation, not expansion. The May 2026 email talks about fewer layers, fewer coordination roles and co-locating teams in "strategic hubs." Tools that replace several others, or cut manual work, fit that brief.
- Time it to the tax calendar. The Consumer business peaks from January to April, when seasonal staff join. Changes to support and operations tools are easier to land outside that window.
- Find the platform team. Intuit describes an "AI-native platform" shared across its products; engineering and data purchases are likely to run through it rather than through each brand.
- Use the filings' language. The 10-K and the employee emails filed with the 8-Ks state Intuit's priorities in its own words: AI-driven experiences, money, and the mid-market.
