This page is for sellers sizing Snowflake as an account, job seekers, partners and analysts who need a Snowflake headcount they can cite. Every figure comes from Snowflake Inc.'s filings with the SEC: the annual report on Form 10-K, which states the total, and the quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, which give period-end headcount for each function. Snowflake's fiscal year ends on January 31, so fiscal 2026 ran from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026, and the quarter ended July 31, 2026 is the second quarter of fiscal 2027.

The 10-Q gives headcount for cost of revenue, sales and marketing, research and development, and general and administrative. We add the four; at January 31, 2026 the same sum matches the 10-K total of 9,060 exactly.

Snowflake employees by function
| Function | Jan 31, 2024 | Jan 31, 2025 | Jan 31, 2026 | Jul 31, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales and marketing | 3,008 | 3,310 | 4,159 | 4,427 |

| Total | 7,004 | 7,834 | 9,060 | 9,394 |
Fiscal 2026 was a sales year. Sales and marketing added 849 people (26%) and professional services 218 (35%), while research and development grew 167 (7%) and general and administrative six. By July 2026, 47% of Snowflake's employees worked in sales and marketing and 27% in research and development.
What the number includes
- Employees, worldwide. The 10-K says: "As of January 31, 2026, we had 9,060 employees operating across 36 countries." It doesn't split full-time and part-time or name countries, and it gives no contractor count.
- Acquired teams. Snowflake bought Observe, Inc., an AI observability company, on February 2, 2026, "primarily for its developed technology and talent," for preliminary consideration of $595.8 million. Other deals named in its filings include Crunchy Data, TensorStax and Natoma. The filings don't say how many people each brought.
- Mostly office-based. "The majority of our personnel work from physical offices," the 10-K says. None of its US employees are represented by a union; works councils and collective agreements apply in some other countries.
What changed and why
- Fiscal 2022 and 2023: hypergrowth. Headcount grew 60% and then 47% as revenue rose from $592 million to $2.07 billion in two years.
- Fiscal 2024 and 2025: steadier. Growth slowed to 19% and then 12%. In fiscal 2025 sales and marketing added 302 people and research and development 255.
- Fiscal 2026: a sales build-out. Sales and marketing headcount jumped 26%. The 10-K says sales and marketing expense rose $390.0 million, "primarily due to an increase of $270.1 million in personnel-related costs" from "increased headcount, stock-based compensation, and overall costs to support the growth in our business."
- Fiscal 2027 so far: slower. Total headcount rose 334 in the six months to July 31, 2026, including Observe, and general and administrative headcount fell. The 10-Q attributes higher personnel costs in sales and marketing and in professional services partly to increased headcount.
The filings describe no company-wide layoff in this period. The one restructuring they mention is at a majority-owned subsidiary, which added $7.7 million to cost of product revenue in fiscal 2025.
Revenue per employee
Fiscal 2026 revenue was $4,683.9 million. Divided by the year-end headcount, that's $4,683.9 million ÷ 9,060 = about $517,000 per employee (our calculation).
| Period | Revenue | Employees at period end | Revenue per employee (our calculation) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months to July 31, 2026 | $5.43 billion | 9,394 | about $578,500 |
| Fiscal 2026 | $4.68 billion | 9,060 | about $517,000 |
| Fiscal 2025 | $3.63 billion | 7,834 | about $462,900 |
| Fiscal 2024 | $2.81 billion | 7,004 | about $400,700 |
| Fiscal 2023 | $2.07 billion | 5,884 | about $351,100 |
| Fiscal 2022 | $1.22 billion | 3,992 | about $305,400 |
The trailing figure adds revenue of $2,937.7 million for the six months to July 31, 2026 to $2,496.9 million for the last six months of fiscal 2026 (full-year $4,683.9 million less $2,187.0 million for the first half). Revenue in the July 2026 quarter grew 35% while headcount grew 7%. Snowflake reports a single operating segment, so there's no split by business.
Selling to a company of Snowflake's size
General guidance on how a 9,000-person, fast-growing software company buys, not a description of Snowflake's internal processes.
- Sell to the build-out. A sales and marketing team that grew by 1,100 people in 18 months needs onboarding, enablement, territory planning and pipeline tools. The function counts show where the new budget is going.
- Expect engineering-led evaluation. A data platform company will test technical products hard and may prefer to build. Bring a trial that runs on real data.
- Look for the consumption angle. Snowflake's customers pay for usage, so anything that helps its own customers use more of the platform has a natural sponsor in sales or partnerships.
- Find the owner quickly. At this size, budgets sit with functional leaders; a single champion plus finance approval is often enough for a first deal.
