Short answer
The biggest companies headquartered in the Austin metro are Dell Technologies (Round Rock, $113.5 billion in revenue for the year to January 2026), Tesla ($94.8 billion, 2025), Oracle ($67.4 billion, year to May 2026), Flex ($27.9 billion, year to March 2026) and CrowdStrike ($4.8 billion), from each company's latest 10-K. The ranking below covers 27 public companies whose filings name an Austin-area headquarters and report at least $150 million in revenue.
- Four Austin-area companies report more than $25 billion in revenue: Dell, Tesla, Oracle and Flex.
- Those four account for $303.6 billion, 92.7% of the 27 companies' combined revenue.
- By headcount, Flex (about 150,000 including contractors), Oracle (about 141,000) and Tesla (134,785) are the largest.
- Resideo, Digital Realty and Ethos keep Austin addresses on file at the SEC but name other cities on their 10-K covers.
- Opportunity Austin counts 45 publicly traded companies headquartered in the region; smaller and over-the-counter companies make up the difference.

Employee counts are company-wide, not Austin-only. Oracle's 10-K, for example, puts about 49,000 of its 141,000 people in the US, and Summit's hotel staff work for outside management companies, so only its 78 corporate employees count.
How this list is built
We started from SEC EDGAR records for listed companies with business addresses in the five counties of the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos metro (Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell), then opened each company's latest 10-K. A company is on the list only if its cover page names an Austin-area principal executive office.
That check removed three companies that still show Austin addresses in the SEC's company database. Resideo Technologies ($7.47 billion in 2025) now gives Scottsdale, Arizona. Digital Realty Trust ($6.11 billion) gives Dallas. Ethos Technologies gives San Francisco. It also added one the address search missed: Dell, whose ZIP code (78682) isn't in the Census Bureau's ZIP-to-county file.
Some companies people call Austin companies aren't here because they don't file their own results:
- Units of larger groups. Opportunity Austin lists Samsung Austin Semiconductor and Whole Foods Market as headquartered in Austin, but neither is an SEC-listed company in its own right.
- Foreign parents. NXP Semiconductors runs a fab in Austin and its US subsidiary is based there, but its 10-K names Eindhoven, the Netherlands as its principal executive office.
- Private companies. They don't publish revenue, so a revenue ranking can't include them.
Revenue is the figure each company reports as its top line: total revenues, net sales or net revenue. Fiscal years differ, so the table compares the latest full year for each, which for Aviat Networks ends in July 2026 and for EZCORP in September 2025.
Fortune 500 companies and other Austin lists
Fortune ranks US companies by revenue too, so its list will broadly agree with the top of this table, though it uses its own revenue definitions and timing. Check Fortune's site for current ranks.
Opportunity Austin, the Greater Austin Chamber's economic development program, says 45 publicly traded companies are headquartered in the region (page updated July 2026). Our 27 is lower because we stop at $150 million in revenue and leave out companies whose 10-Ks name another city. For employers by local headcount, which puts the State of Texas, the University of Texas at Austin and H-E-B alongside Dell and Tesla, Opportunity Austin's major employers list is the better source.
What the list says about Austin
Hardware dominates the money. Dell, Flex, Cirrus Logic, Silicon Labs, Aviat and TSS together reported $144.9 billion, 44% of the total, and Tesla adds another $94.8 billion of manufacturing. Software is the most common business: ten of the 27, from Oracle and CrowdStrike down to CS Disco, with $76.6 billion between them. Consumer brands (YETI, Vital Farms, EZCORP), energy (Atlas, T1 Energy) and one genetic testing company (Natera) make up most of the rest.
The headcount column tells a different story. TTEC, with $2.1 billion in revenue, employs about 51,000 people, more than CrowdStrike, Natera, SailPoint and Q2 combined. For anyone selling per-seat software, benefits or workplace services, that column matters more than revenue.
Selling to Austin's biggest companies
At companies this size, buying is split by function. IT, security, facilities, HR and marketing each have their own budget owner, purchases above a threshold go through procurement, and new vendors usually go through security and legal review before a contract. The 10-K helps in three ways: it names the segments (each often has its own buyers), it states the fiscal year (budgets for the next year are set in the months before it starts), and it lists risks the company says it's working on.
Illustrative example. The seller, rates and results are fictional; the company figures are from the table.
Ridgeline Learning (ridgeline.example) sells leadership training priced per manager and wants Austin headquarters with 1,000 to 10,000 employees, big enough to have an HR team and small enough that a regional vendor can win.
- From the table, ten companies fit: Natera, EZCORP, SailPoint, Q2, Silicon Labs, Cirrus Logic, Atlas, Firefly, YETI and Commerce.com.
- Ridgeline estimates one manager per 10 employees, so Natera's 6,140 people imply about 600 managers, and SailPoint's 3,229 about 320.
- At $400 per manager a year, those two accounts alone are worth roughly $370,000 a year.
- It times outreach to fiscal years: SailPoint's ends in January, so planning for the next year runs in the autumn.
Bebop can research each of the ten (who runs learning and development, recent leadership hires, what the company said about growth in its 10-K) and draft the first message.
Subject: Manager training at [Company]'s size Hi [first name], [Company] has grown to about [headcount] people, and your 10-K mentions [hiring plans / a new segment structure]. That usually means a lot of first-time managers in a short time. We run a six-week program for new managers at Austin companies with 1,000 to 10,000 employees, delivered on site. Would the outline and pricing for a cohort of 30 be useful before your [fiscal year] planning? [Your name], Ridgeline Learning

Questions people ask
What is the biggest company in Austin?
By revenue, Dell Technologies, headquartered in Round Rock in the Austin metro, is the biggest: $113.5 billion for the fiscal year ended January 30, 2026, according to its 10-K. Tesla is second with $94.8 billion for 2025 and Oracle third with $67.4 billion for the year to May 2026. By headcount, Flex and Oracle each report more employees than Dell, though those totals are worldwide.
Which Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in Austin?
Fortune ranks companies by revenue, and the Austin-area companies with the most revenue in their latest 10-Ks are Dell Technologies, Tesla, Oracle and Flex, each above $25 billion. Fortune uses its own revenue definitions and fiscal-year timing, so check its site for exact ranks. Flex is incorporated in Singapore but its 10-K names Austin as its principal executive office.
How many public companies are based in Austin?
Opportunity Austin says 45 publicly traded companies are headquartered in the region. From SEC filings, 27 companies whose latest 10-K names an Austin-area principal executive office reported at least $150 million in revenue. The rest are smaller companies, including early-stage biotech and over-the-counter listings, many with little or no revenue.
Is Resideo still headquartered in Austin?
Not according to its latest annual report. Resideo Technologies' 10-K for 2025 gives its principal executive offices as 16100 N. 71st Street, Scottsdale, Arizona, although the SEC's company database still shows an Austin business address. Digital Realty Trust is similar: its 10-K names Dallas. Lists built from addresses alone often still count both as Austin companies.
Are Apple and Amazon headquartered in Austin?
No. Both are in Opportunity Austin's top band of employers, with 6,000 or more local staff, but their 10-Ks name Cupertino, California and Seattle as their principal executive offices. Apple runs engineering, chip design and its Americas Operations Center in Austin, and Amazon runs fulfillment centers. That's why lists of big employers and lists of headquarters differ so much.
