The biggest companies in Cincinnati: 16 headquarters ranked by revenue, and how many work here

Cincinnati's biggest companies are global, but most of their people aren't in Cincinnati. Kroger employs more than 403,000 people and about one in twenty of them works in the region, while Cincinnati Financial keeps most of its staff at home.

Each row is from the company's latest annual report on Form 10-K: the principal executive office on its cover, revenue as reported and company-wide headcount. The region is the Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN metro area; every company that qualifies is on the Ohio side.

Notes on the figures. For the two banks, revenue is net interest income plus noninterest income. Procter & Gamble, Cintas and LSI Industries have filed 2026 annual reports. P&G's headcount fell 4% in its latest year, which it attributes to a restructuring program. GE Aerospace says about 30,000 of its people work in the United States, and its 10-K gives 1 Neumann Way, Evendale as its principal executive office. Medpace and Chemed are $256,000 apart.

How many of their people work here

Revenue says how big a company is; local headcount says how much of it is in Cincinnati. REDI Cincinnati's list of the region's largest employers, from the Cincinnati Business Courier's 2024 to 2025 Book of Lists, gives local counts for six of the 16. Set against the 10-K totals (our calculation; the dates differ, so treat the shares as rough):

CompanyLocal employees (REDI list)Company-wide (10-K)Rough local share
Kroger20,000more than 403,000about 5%
Procter & Gamble12,000about 104,000about 12%
GE Aerospace9,000about 57,000about 16%
Fifth Third Bank5,92718,676 FTEabout 32%
Cincinnati Insurance3,4705,705about 61%
American Financial Group2,643about 8,500about 31%

The pattern matters for anyone selling to them. At Kroger, P&G and GE Aerospace, Cincinnati is where decisions are made for operations that are mostly elsewhere, so a deal won here can cover stores, plants or engine shops across the country. Cincinnati Financial's 10-K says 3,400 of its 5,705 associates work at headquarters, supporting 2,195 field associates, which makes it a mostly local buyer.

Who isn't on the list

CompanyWhat the record shows
Paycor HCMFiled to delist (Form 25) on 14 April 2025 and to deregister (Form 15) on 24 April 2025; its last 10-K covers the year to June 2024
ComericaMerged into Fifth Third, as Fifth Third's 8-K of 2 February 2026 reports, so it's counted within Fifth Third from 2026
Private companiesNot ranked, because they don't publish revenue

No public company in the metro's Kentucky or Indiana counties reports enough revenue to make the list, although Northern Kentucky is home to large operations such as CVG Airport, which REDI lists with 16,000 employees.

Fortune 500 companies in Cincinnati

Fortune ranks US companies by revenue using its own definitions and fiscal-year cutoffs, and publishes the ranks on its site; use it for the official count. By filed revenue, seven Cincinnati companies report more than $8 billion: Kroger, Procter & Gamble, GE Aerospace, Cincinnati Financial, Cintas, Fifth Third and American Financial Group. Fifth Third's figure will rise with Comerica included.

What the 16 look like

GroupCompaniesCombined revenue
Grocery and consumer productsKroger, Procter & Gamble$234.7 billion
Industrial and business servicesGE Aerospace, Cintas, Hillman, LSI Industries$59.4 billion
Banking and insuranceCincinnati Financial, Fifth Third, American Financial Group, First Financial, LCNB$30.8 billion
Health careMedpace, Chemed, AtriCure$5.6 billion
Media and real estateE.W. Scripps, Phillips Edison$2.9 billion

Two consumer companies account for 70% of the revenue. Below them sits a cluster of insurers in and around Fairfield and downtown, and a set of mid-size industrial and health companies such as Hillman, LSI, Medpace and AtriCure that are often easier first accounts than the giants.

Selling to Cincinnati's biggest companies

Large Cincinnati headquarters buy the way large companies everywhere do: through procurement, with supplier portals, security reviews and the buyer's payment terms. Two things help locally. Check each company's supplier pages for its code of conduct and onboarding requirements before the first call. And the insurers buy for a mostly local workforce, which makes on-site services practical.

Illustrative example. The seller and its figures are fictional; the company figures are from the 10-Ks.

Fairfield Claims Lab (fairfieldclaimslab.example) sells photo-estimating software for property claims and wants the two large Cincinnati insurers.

  • Cincinnati Financial has 5,705 associates and earned $9.98 billion in premiums in 2025; American Financial Group has about 8,500 employees, about 7,700 of them at Great American Insurance Group.
  • It assumes each insurer has a few hundred property adjusters and estimators, and prices at $1,200 per user a year.
  • A 300-user rollout at one insurer is worth $360,000 a year, so a single win justifies the sales cycle.
  • It starts with the vice president of claims operations, then the head of claims technology, and times outreach to each company's budget cycle (both have December fiscal year ends).

Bebop can find the claims and technology leaders at both insurers and draft outreach that refers to what each says about claims costs in its 10-K.

Subject: Property estimates at [Company]

Hi [first name],

Your 10-K mentions [catastrophe losses / loss adjustment expenses] as a pressure on results. Faster first estimates on property claims are one of the few levers that cut both.

Our photo-estimating tool is used by regional insurers to close simple property claims in days rather than weeks, and we're 15 minutes from your office. Would a pilot with ten adjusters on next quarter's claims be useful?
