The 743 corporate and regional managing offices pay even more on average. For the technology slice of this market, see tech companies in Charlotte.

CBP counts establishments, not companies, excludes the self-employed, and measures employment in the pay period including March 12, 2023.

Prospecting Charlotte companies

Charlotte's big employers buy in two very different ways. The banks, insurers and Duke Energy run formal procurement, and banks add vendor risk reviews because regulators expect them to manage their suppliers' risks, so plan for a long review. The hospital systems and public bodies at the top of the employer list buy through group purchasing contracts or public bids. Mid-sized private firms are faster: in the metro, 9,477 establishments have 20 to 99 employees, where an owner or operations lead usually decides.

Queen City Talent (qctalent.example) recruits risk and compliance staff and wants Mecklenburg County financial firms with 100 or more employees.

  • Metro finance and insurance establishments: 4,237.
  • 2.6% of all metro establishments have 100 or more employees; Queen City assumes finance runs higher, at 5%, which gives about 210 sites.
  • Mecklenburg holds most of the region's finance jobs, so it starts there and drops bank branches, which don't hire risk staff locally.
  • It targets the chief risk officer's team and the head of talent acquisition at each, not branch managers.

Bebop can search for "Charlotte financial services firms with 100 to 2,000 employees hiring for risk or compliance roles" and explain why each fits.
