Marketing agencies in Miami: 711 offices in Miami-Dade, mostly tiny, and Florida's texting rule

Miami-Dade's agencies are among the smallest anywhere: 7.2 employees per office, and three in four have fewer than five people. Small can be excellent, but it changes what you check, from who covers when the founder is away to whether their text campaigns meet Florida's consent rule.

Miami-Dade County had 711 advertising, PR and related agency establishments in 2023, employing 5,089 people on a $432.5 million payroll (Census County Business Patterns). 318 were advertising agencies and 156 PR agencies, and 546 had fewer than five employees. To hire one, check who backs up the lead person, keep your ad and social accounts in your own name, and if the agency will text or autodial customers, confirm it collects written consent under Florida law.

  • 711 agency establishments in Miami-Dade employ 5,089 people, 1.83% of the 38,864 in the US.
  • 546 of the 711 have one to four employees; only 9 have 100 or more.
  • Advertising agencies here average 6.6 employees per office and $110,969 in pay per employee.

  • Carnival, headquartered in Miami, reported $972 million of selling expenses, which include advertising, for fiscal 2025.

Small shops, and what that changes

The Census Bureau doesn't publish the three classes above 250 for Miami-Dade, because it drops cells with fewer than three establishments. The total shows 2 establishments have 250 or more employees. In bands, 663 have fewer than 20 employees, 39 have 20 to 99 and 9 have 100 or more; that last figure is derived as the total less the smaller bands.

When most of the market is a founder with two or three people, the risks are about continuity, not scale:

  • Key person. Ask who runs your account when the lead is sick, travelling or pitching. Get a named backup.
  • Subcontracting. Ask which work goes to freelancers, and whether they've assigned their rights to the agency. The Copyright Office's Circular 30 lists the nine kinds of commissioned work that can be "made for hire," and a logo or ad usually isn't one, so rights pass by written assignment. You want the agency to hold them before it passes them to you.
  • Access. Keep logins in a shared vault you control, not in one person's inbox.

The 35 media representative offices (541840) complete the 711; their employment figure is high-noise, so it isn't shown. Employees per location is our calculation. Outside 5418, Miami-Dade has 1,328 marketing consultancies (541613) and 251 graphic design studios (541430). For which code covers SEO, social and design firms, see the NAICS code for marketing.

If you need Spanish-language or bilingual work, ask for samples written in Spanish from the start, not translated, and for the name of the writer.

Many local campaigns now include SMS. Florida's Telephone Solicitation Act (section 501.059, Florida Statutes) says a person may not make an unsolicited telephonic sales call, which the law defines to include a text message to a consumer, using an automated system for selecting and dialing numbers, or a recorded message, without the called party's "prior express written consent." That consent must be a signed written agreement that names the phone number and authorizes those calls or texts. A consumer who receives a violating call can sue for actual damages or $500, whichever is greater, and a court can triple the award for a willful or knowing violation.

So before an agency runs a text or autodial campaign for you, ask: what consent language captured each number, where is the record kept, and which platform sends the messages? If the answer is vague, don't launch. Have counsel review the flow.

Who's here: a big advertiser and an agency roll-up

Carnival Corporation, at 3655 N.W. 87th Avenue in Miami, reported selling expenses of $972 million for fiscal 2025, a line its 10-K says includes "a broad range of advertising, marketing and promotional expenses."

Onar Holding Corporation, at 990 Biscayne Boulevard, is the one SEC-registered listed company in the advertising SIC codes (7310 to 7319) based in Miami-Dade. Its 10-K for 2025 describes "a technology-enabled marketing platform that acquires and integrates specialist marketing agencies" and reports revenue of $3,179,519. It trades over the counter. The holding companies' 10-Ks don't list Miami offices.

Selling to Miami agencies

With 610 of 711 offices under ten people, sell like you would to any small business: a monthly price, a self-serve trial and a founder who decides in one call. The 48 offices with 20 or more employees are where you'll find an operations or media lead.

Illustrative example. The company and figures are invented.

Consentry (consentry.example) sells SMS consent capture and record-keeping at $150 a month to agencies. Its targets in Miami-Dade are the 318 advertising agencies and 98 promotional services firms, 416 in all. If an illustrative 25% run text campaigns for clients, about 104 fit, worth about $187,200 a year if each bought. The opener points to the agency's own published SMS work and asks how it stores consent records. Finding which agencies run SMS means reading their case studies one by one; that's the research Bebop does for each account in a list. See also how to sell to small businesses.

Where to look

  • Miami-Dade Beacon Council, the county's economic development partnership, for employer expansions and relocations.
  • Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, for member businesses and events.
  • Florida's Division of Corporations (Sunbiz) holds business registrations; it returned a browser check to our automated request on 30 October 2026, so search it directly to confirm a firm's legal name, status and registered agent.

Next step: for Broward, Palm Beach and the rest of the state, see marketing agencies in Florida; for the national groups, see the largest advertising agencies.

Questions people ask

How many marketing agencies are in Miami?

County Business Patterns counted 711 advertising, PR and related agency establishments with paid employees in Miami-Dade County in 2023, employing 5,089 people. 318 were advertising agencies and 156 PR agencies. Miami-Dade also had 1,328 marketing consultancies, counted separately. Freelancers without employees aren't included in either figure. Broward and Palm Beach counties are counted separately.

Are Miami marketing agencies small?

Mostly, yes. In 2023, 546 of Miami-Dade's 711 agency establishments had one to four employees and the county average was 7.2 per office. Only 9 had 100 or more. Small firms can do excellent work, but check who backs up the lead person, which tasks go to freelancers, and that your account logins sit in a vault you control.

Do I need consent to text customers in Florida?

For marketing texts sent with an automated dialing system, yes. Florida's Telephone Solicitation Act requires the recipient's prior express written consent: a signed written agreement naming the phone number and authorizing those messages. A consumer can sue for actual damages or $500 per violation, whichever is greater, and up to three times that for a willful or knowing violation. Have counsel review your consent flow.

How much does a marketing agency cost in Miami?

No public source publishes Miami agency rates. The cost base is public: advertising agency staff in Miami-Dade averaged $110,969 in pay in 2023, by our calculation from Census payroll, before benefits, rent and margin. Expect fixed project fees, hourly rates or monthly retainers, plus media and production costs. Ask each finalist to price the same written brief.
