Source: US Census Bureau, County Business Patterns (CBP) 2023, NAICS 5418 (Advertising, Public Relations, and Related Services). CBP counts establishments with paid employees, not companies, and leaves out the self-employed. Nationally, the same industries average about 12 employees per establishment (our calculation from 465,231 employees at 38,864 establishments), so Florida's offices are about half the typical size.
Region by region
The twelve counties with the most agency establishments, from the same CBP release:
| County | Establishments | Employees |
|---|---|---|
| Miami-Dade | 711 | 5,089 |
| Broward | 381 | 2,893 |
| Palm Beach | 379 | 2,137 |
| Hillsborough | 252 | 1,870 |
| Orange | 229 | 1,427 |
| Pinellas | 200 | Not reported (high-noise figure) |
| Duval | 126 | 732 |
| Leon | 96 | 659 |
| Seminole | 88 | 409 |
| Sarasota | 88 | 389 |
| Lee | 80 | 562 |
| Collier | 63 | 255 |
Pinellas County's employment was published but flagged as high-noise: the Census Bureau's confidentiality noise changed it by 5% or more. Another 16 establishments are coded statewide, with no county.
South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach) holds 1,471 establishments, 44% of the state. Hillsborough and Pinellas, the core of Tampa Bay, have 452; Orange and Seminole, around Orlando, 317. For metro-level detail, see the pages on Miami, Tampa and Orlando.
Size
| Employees per establishment | Establishments |
|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | 2,622 |
| 5 to 9 | 312 |
| 10 to 19 | 216 |
| 20 to 49 | 141 |
| 50 to 99 | 36 |
| 100 to 249 | 19 |
| 250 to 499 | 9 |
| 500 or more | Not published |
The Census Bureau doesn't publish the 500 to 999 and 1,000-or-more cells for Florida, because it drops cells with fewer than three establishments; the total shows 1 establishment has 500 or more employees. In bands, 3,150 have fewer than 20 employees, 177 have 20 to 99 and 29 have 100 or more, that last figure derived as the total less the smaller bands.

| Advertising agencies (541810) | 1,367 | 7,666 | 5.6 |
| Other advertising services, such as promotional products (541890) | 652 | 5,091 | 7.8 |

| Media buying agencies (541830) | 82 | 571 | 7.0 |
Employees per location is our calculation. Direct mail firms are the largest on average; PR firms the smallest. Outside 5418, Florida also has 6,745 marketing consultancies (541613) with 27,166 employees and 1,334 graphic design studios (541430). The NAICS code for marketing page explains where each kind of firm sits.
Public companies and big advertisers
SEC-registered listed companies in the advertising SIC codes (7310 to 7319) with Florida addresses, confirmed in each company's latest 10-K:
| Company | Headquarters (10-K) | 2025 revenue | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| IZEA Worldwide, Inc. | Orlando | $31,237,853 | Describes itself as a "technology-enabled influencer marketing company"; 75 full-time employees |
| Onar Holding Corporation | Miami | $3,179,519 | Acquires and integrates specialist marketing agencies |
| Specificity, Inc. | Lakewood Ranch | $1,090,450 | Full-service digital marketing firm with about 9 full-time employees |
Two other EDGAR listings with Florida addresses and advertising codes aren't agencies: NAPC Defense of Clearwater now describes a defense and security business, and theglobe.com's latest 10-K gives a Dallas address and no revenue.
The largest agency group has a Florida base. Omnicom's 10-K for 2025 names 525 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, among its principal corporate offices, alongside New York and Stamford. On the advertiser side, Publix Super Markets, of Lakeland, reported advertising costs of $283 million for 2025.
Checking a Florida agency
- State registration. Florida's Division of Corporations (Sunbiz) holds business records. It returned a browser check to our automated request on 30 October 2026, so search it directly to confirm the legal name and status.
- Public work. The Florida Department of Financial Services' FACTS contract search lets you search state agency contracts, grant awards and purchase orders by vendor name, agency, service type and dollar value. If an agency claims state clients, you can often see the contract.
- Continuity. With 2,622 offices under five people, ask who covers your account when the lead is away and keep logins in a vault you control.
- Ownership. Google's advertiser guide says an agency "must set up a separate Ads account for you." Under the Copyright Act, as the Copyright Office's Circular 30 sets out, an outside firm's work is "made for hire" only in nine listed categories and with a signed agreement, so get a written assignment.
- Texting campaigns. Florida law requires prior express written consent for automated marketing texts and calls; the Miami page explains the rule.
Selling to Florida agencies
Florida rewards a regional plan: South Florida first for volume, then Tampa Bay and Orlando. With 3,150 establishments under 20 employees, the founder decides in most deals.
Illustrative example. The company and figures are invented.
Routewise (routewise.example) sells print and mail campaign tracking at $200 a month to direct mail and promotional firms. Florida has 147 direct mail firms and 652 other advertising services firms, 799 in all. If an illustrative 20% run mail or print campaigns for clients each month, about 160 fit, worth about $384,000 a year if all bought. The first email names a client campaign the firm has posted and the tracking question its clients ask after every drop. Sorting 799 firms by what they actually run is the research Bebop does for each account in a list; for the method, see how to build a prospect list.
Statewide organizations
- Florida Public Relations Association, the statewide PR association with local chapters.
- Florida Chamber of Commerce, the statewide business association.
- AMA Orlando and AMA Tampa Bay, American Marketing Association chapters.
Next step: pick your region above, then build a shortlist with the method in the largest advertising agencies and how to build a list.

Questions people ask
How many marketing agencies are in Florida?
County Business Patterns counted 3,356 advertising, PR and related agency establishments with paid employees in Florida in 2023, third among the states, employing 21,896 people. Miami-Dade County had 711, Broward 381 and Palm Beach 379. Florida also had 6,745 marketing consultancies, counted separately. Freelancers without employees aren't included in either count.
Which Florida city has the most marketing agencies?
By county, Miami-Dade leads with 711 agency establishments in 2023, followed by Broward with 381 and Palm Beach with 379, so South Florida holds 44% of the state's total. Hillsborough (Tampa) had 252 and Orange (Orlando) 229. These are Census County Business Patterns figures for establishments with paid employees, counted by county rather than city limits.
Are there publicly traded marketing agencies in Florida?
A few small ones. Among SEC-registered listed companies in the advertising industry codes, IZEA Worldwide of Orlando, an influencer marketing company, reported $31.2 million of revenue for 2025; Onar Holding of Miami $3.2 million; and Specificity of Lakewood Ranch $1.1 million. Omnicom, the largest agency group, lists West Palm Beach among its principal corporate offices.
How can I see what a Florida agency has done for the state?
Search the Florida Department of Financial Services' FACTS system, which reports state agency contracts, grant awards and purchase orders. You can search by vendor name, agency, service type and dollar value. It covers state agencies, not cities, counties or private clients, so ask the agency for private references too, and call at least one.
