Companies in Las Vegas: the casino workplaces, 19 public headquarters and 54,202 businesses

Las Vegas runs on casino hotels: 97 of them employ one in eight of the metro's workers, and eight have more than 5,000 people on site. Behind the Strip sits a quieter headquarters economy, from a gas utility and a home-rental landlord to an airline and a rare-earth miner.

The Las Vegas metro (all of Clark County) had 54,202 business establishments with 974,603 employees in 2023, according to the Census Bureau. The largest public companies headquartered there, by revenue in their latest 10-Ks, are MGM Resorts ($17.54 billion in 2025), Las Vegas Sands ($13.02 billion), Wynn Resorts ($7.14 billion), Boyd Gaming ($4.09 billion) and Light & Wonder ($3.31 billion). Nevada's labor market office ranks Clark County's government offices as the city's largest workplace.

  • Casino hotels are 97 of the metro's 54,202 establishments but employ 127,570 people, 13.1% of all workers.
  • Clark County casinos won $13.69 billion from players in 2025, $8.82 billion of it on the Strip.
  • Las Vegas Sands is headquartered in Las Vegas but sold its Las Vegas resorts in 2022; its revenue now comes from Macao and Singapore.
  • Caesars Entertainment runs Strip resorts, but its 10-K gives Reno as its head office, so it isn't on the list.
  • Gaming companies account for 80% of the $59.47 billion of revenue the 19 headquarters reported.

This page is for anyone looking for companies in Las Vegas: job seekers, suppliers chasing resort contracts, companies moving to Southern Nevada and B2B sellers sizing the market. It covers the casino economy first, then the largest workplaces on Nevada's own list, the public companies headquartered in the valley, the Census count of every business by size and sector, and the county and state records for checking one. The Census figures are for the Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas metro, which is all of Clark County.

A metro built around 97 casino hotels

The Census Bureau's County Business Patterns (CBP) separates casino hotels (NAICS 721120) from other hotels and casinos. In Las Vegas they are a tiny share of businesses and a huge share of jobs:

Measure, 2023Casino hotelsAll businesses
Establishments9754,202
Employees127,570974,603
Annual payroll$6,372,967,000$53,617,367,000
Average employees per establishment1,31518.0
Average annual pay$49,957$55,015
Establishments with 1,000 or more employees3481
Establishments with 5,000 or more employees89

Averages for casino hotels are our calculation. The Census Bureau adds noise to protect confidentiality and rates the casino-hotel employee and payroll figures as moderately affected (2% to 5%). Accommodation and food services as a whole employs 264,881 people at 5,780 establishments, 27.2% of all jobs in the metro.

The money behind those jobs is public too. In its December 2025 Gaming Revenue Report, the Nevada Gaming Control Board counts 221 reporting licensees in Clark County that won $13.69 billion from players in calendar 2025, up 0.89%. The 60 on the Las Vegas Strip won $8.82 billion of it, 64.4%, and slot machines brought in $8.90 billion, 65.0% of the county total.

The largest workplaces in Las Vegas

Nevada's Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), the state's labor market information office, publishes a Top 20 Employers list for each city. Its 2026 second release for Las Vegas gives employment ranges rather than counts:

Employees at the siteSites on the list
10,000 or moreClark County Offices
5,000 to 9,999Las Vegas Metropolitan Police; Flamingo Las Vegas; MGM Grand; Orleans Hotel & Casino; Las Vegas Sands Corp; Mandalay Bay; Caesars Palace; Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Forensic Laboratory; Planet Hollywood Las Vegas
1,000 to 4,999Paris Las Vegas; Gold Coast Hotel & Casino; Harrah's Las Vegas; The Horseshoe; SAHARA Las Vegas; Palace Station; South Point Hotel and Casino; CCSD Transportation Department; Yellow Checker Star Transportation; Suncoast Hotel & Casino

Fifteen of the 20 are casinos or casino hotels. Read it as a list of worksites, not companies: DETR builds it from a licensed employer database (Data Axle) and doesn't rank sites within a range. That explains its quirks: the Metropolitan Police appears twice, the Clark County School District appears only through its transportation department, and Las Vegas Sands itself no longer operates in the city (its 10-K says it sold the Venetian Resort and the Sands Expo in 2022). On DETR's statewide list, Nellis Air Force Base is the only other Clark County site rated 10,000 or more.

The suburbs look different. DETR's Henderson list is led by Securitas, Republic Services and Dignity Health's St. Rose Dominican de Lima campus; North Las Vegas's by Brady Linen Services, a TJ Maxx distribution center, Republic Services and the College of Southern Nevada. The laundry, waste and warehouse work that keeps the resorts running sits there.

All are in Las Vegas except CleanSpark, in Henderson. Revenue is as reported. For Axos, a bank, it's net interest income ($1.25 billion) plus non-interest income ($0.23 billion). Southwest Gas Holdings' figure is its utility alone, after it deconsolidated Centuri. Light & Wonder delisted from Nasdaq in November 2025 and now has its sole primary listing on the Australian Securities Exchange while still filing with the SEC.

Two big names are missing on purpose. Caesars Entertainment reported $11.49 billion of net revenue for 2025 and has 9,600 culinary employees in Las Vegas, but its 10-K gives 100 West Liberty Street, Reno as its principal executive office. Golden Entertainment ($634.9 million in 2025) filed a merger proxy in March 2026, delisted in April and deregistered in May.

Their own filings show where the payrolls are. MGM Resorts reports about 44,000 full-time and 18,000 part-time employees in the US plus 16,000 outside it; Wynn about 28,500, of whom 16,500 are in the US; Boyd 16,009; Red Rock about 9,500, all in the US; and Allegiant 5,616 full-time equivalents.

In bands: 45,849 establishments with 1 to 19 employees, 6,918 with 20 to 99 and 1,435 with 100 or more. Of the 81 with 1,000 or more, 27 have 1,000 to 1,499, 31 have 1,500 to 2,499, 14 have 2,500 to 4,999 and 9 have 5,000 or more. CBP counts locations with paid employees, not companies, leaves out the self-employed and measures employment in the pay period including March 12, 2023.

Finding and checking a Las Vegas company

Most of the Strip lies in unincorporated Clark County rather than the City of Las Vegas, so start with the county search for a resort or a Strip supplier, and the city search for downtown. A contractor should also hold a state contractors board license; check its classification and any discipline before you sign.

Prospecting Las Vegas companies

The 34 casino hotels with 1,000 or more employees are few enough to research one by one, and they're owned by a handful of operators. That shapes the sale: a department head at one resort can run a pilot, but a contract across properties is signed at the operator's corporate office. The 45,849 establishments with fewer than 20 employees are a different market, reachable through the license files, where new business lists are a steady source of companies buying for the first time.

Illustrative example. The company, prices and results are fictional; the counts are from the Census data above.

Neon Shift (neonshift.example) sells scheduling software for hourly hotel departments such as housekeeping, banquets and food and beverage.

  • Casino hotels with 500 or more employees: 22 + 34 = 56.
  • It assumes each has five departments scheduling hourly staff, at $8,000 per department a year: $40,000 per resort.
  • Ten resorts in two years would be $400,000 a year.
  • It starts with directors of housekeeping at the 22 resorts with 500 to 999 employees, where one department head can approve a pilot, and uses those results to reach operations leaders at the larger properties' parent companies.

Working out which operator owns each resort, and who runs housekeeping there, is the slow part; Bebop does that research for each account on the list.

Email to a director of housekeeping at a Las Vegas resort
Subject: Room attendant scheduling at [Resort]

Hi [first name],

When occupancy swings from midweek to a convention weekend, housekeeping schedules usually get rebuilt by hand, and overtime is where it shows.

We schedule room attendants and inspectors from the forecast your revenue team already has, and we're running at resorts with 500 to 1,000 staff. Could I show you what the first month looked like at a property your size?

[Your name], Neon Shift

Next step: plan accounts this size with enterprise account research.

Questions people ask

What are the biggest companies in Las Vegas?

By revenue in their latest 10-K filings, the largest companies headquartered in the Las Vegas area are MGM Resorts International ($17.54 billion in 2025), Las Vegas Sands ($13.02 billion), Wynn Resorts ($7.14 billion), Boyd Gaming ($4.09 billion) and Light & Wonder ($3.31 billion). Allegiant Travel, Red Rock Resorts, Southwest Gas Holdings, American Homes 4 Rent and Axos Financial complete the top ten.

How many businesses are in Las Vegas?

The Census Bureau counted 54,202 business establishments with paid employees in the Las Vegas-Henderson-North Las Vegas metro, which is all of Clark County, in 2023. They employed 974,603 people and paid $53.6 billion in wages. About 85% have fewer than 20 employees, while 81 have 1,000 or more. The count excludes the self-employed and counts each location separately.

Who is the largest employer in Las Vegas?

On the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation's 2026 Top 20 Employers list for Las Vegas, Clark County's government offices are the only site rated 10,000 or more employees. The Metropolitan Police and casino resorts such as the Flamingo, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace and Planet Hollywood follow in the 5,000 to 9,999 range. The list ranks worksites, not whole employers.

Is Caesars Entertainment headquartered in Las Vegas?

No. Caesars Entertainment runs several Strip resorts, including Caesars Palace, but its 2025 10-K gives its principal executive office as 100 West Liberty Street in Reno, Nevada. It reported $11.49 billion of net revenue for 2025 and about 50,000 team members, including 9,600 culinary employees in Las Vegas covered by a union contract.

How do I look up a business license in Las Vegas?

It depends on where the business is. Clark County licenses businesses in unincorporated areas, including most of the Strip, and its online search finds them by name, owner, address, category or license date. The City of Las Vegas licenses businesses inside city limits, including downtown. Contractors also need a license from the Nevada State Contractors Board, which has its own search.
